Get More Done in Less Time!

Get More Done in Less Time!Taking a step back from your daily routine is a fantastic way to analyze exactly what you do each and every day. This is something I have recently done myself after finishing reading The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris.

If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it as I can guarantee you will change not only your outlook on life but also your work ethic.

I looked at my daily routine and a LOT of it was spent doing things that weren’t productive and weren’t making me money. Things like checking emails, going on Facebook, browsing the same sites over and over again. Until you actually sit down at the end of the day and detail what actual ‘work’ you have done, you might not even realise how much time you are wasting.

Whether you are earning a living from the internet or are simply trying to, these tips will instantly allow you to get more done in less time.

Create a Better Daily Routine

Only check your emails twice a day (maximum). Once in the morning and once at night if you have to. Don’t even think about checking them during the day.

Set yourself one hour a day (only if you have to) of browsing sites like Facebook and other sites you visit regularly. Make it the same time everyday.

Before you sit down at your computer, have a list of what you want to get done. Never sit down if you have no plan or goal. Write it down first. Ideally last thing at night, make a list of what you want to get done tomorrow.

Identify what is making you money and do more of it. In many situations, it has been proven that 80% of all benefits come from just 20% of the effort. In business, this means that 80% of all profits can be pinpointed down to 20% of the workload. So look at what is actually making you money and do more of it. Forget about starting something new or buying that new ClickBank product or WSO. Focus on what works and do more of it.

Set realistic and accurate goals. There’s no point setting a goal like ‘I want to have lots of money’. It’s not specific enough for you to achieve. How do you know when you have achieved it? What exactly is lots of money? Instead, set yourself a precise figure in mind you want to achieve and write down the steps you will take to achieve it. Take one step at a time and you’ll get nearer to your goal after each one.

Monitor Your Results

Have you ever sat down at night and asked yourself ‘What exactly have I achieved today?’ If you haven’t then why not give it a go. When you realise how little you achieve on some days it really gets you motivated to do more the day after.

It acts as an instant kick up the backside!

I’ve had days when I have done this only to realise I have only wrote one article and made one post on my blog. Yet I was sat in front of my computer for about 10 hours. I probably did about one hour of actual ‘work’ and the rest of the time browsing and acting like I was working.

That’s another thing I learned from Tim’s book; don’t do work for works sake. Sometimes you think what you are doing is actually work and will give you benefit, when in reality you’re just wasting a heap of time.

Focus on what works and do more of it.

I hope this post makes you realise that you can get a whole load more done in less time than you think.
