Best Blog Titles – 2 Tips For Using the Best Blog Titles

Best Blog TitlesThere’s no doubt about it, using the best blog titles can not only get more interest from your readers but also get you more free traffic from the search engines. It can sometimes be tricky to decide whether you are writing for your readers or writing for the search engines in terms of adding relevant keywords to your blog posts. But it is possible to do both. Using the best blog titles can not only include your chosen keywords but also entice viewers to read your posts.

Best Blog Titles Rule #1 – Adding Keywords

The best blog title should contain a keyword that you hope to get found for in the search engines (if you’re not including these then you are losing a LOT of free traffic). All you need to do is use a small amount of research to find keywords that your visitors might be interested in.

You can use the free Google keyword tool for this. Ideally you want to select keywords that have more than 300 searches per month (exact match) because these shouldn’t have too much competition. If you choose keywords that have 100,000 searches a month then be prepared to have problems ranking in the top 1000 results, never mind the top 10!

Next you need to incorporate them into your title. You could simply do what I have done with the title of this page. Add the keyword first, and then have the headline afterwards. So it would look something like this:

YOUR KEYWORD – HERE IS MY NORMAL HEADLINE

The benefit of this is the search engines put a lot of emphasis on the start of your title, so they see the keyword first. But you are also pleasing your readers because they can read the normal headline part which is what will entice them to read your blog post.

Best Blog Titles Rule #2 – Entice Your Readers

So the first rule to writing the best blog titles was to include your keyword. Next you need to write a compelling headline that will cause your readers to click on it and open your blog post. The best way to do this is to make it compelling, interesting, thought provoking, funny or even offensive! (By offensive I mean having something like “You Suck At Blogging, Here’s Why….”)

That’s offensive in a mild way but I hope you see my point!

When deciding on how to entice your readers with the best blog titles, the first thing to ask yourself is “would I click on it?” If the answer is “no” then you need to think of another one. Open ended headlines work well. So you can say something like “I’ve discovered 5 ways to get lots of traffic for free, take a look here”.

You are telling them what they will get by clicking on the link and if they are interested in getting more traffic for free, then of course they will open it. So you need to make sure that your titles and blog posts are obviously something related to your main topic. Get this right and your readers will love your blog even more.
